Brooks Mill Winery- Wirtz, Virginia
There are many small wineries in the Smith Mountain Lake area, but up to now Franklin County, Virginia hasn’t been known for its wine (though it is well known for distilled spirits……but that’s another story). In December, 2008, H.T. and Rhonda Page opened the first winery in Franklin County to bottle fruit wines: Brooks Mill Winery in Wirtz.
Blackberry and plum are the varieties currently available. Blueberry and pear are aging in the barrel and have not been bottled as yet. Bottles are $10 plus tax and wine tastings are available by appointment.
