The Peaks of Otter Lodge is located on the beautiful Blue Ridge Parkway in Bedford, Virginia.
Deer outside Lodge
The lodge is beautifully set on the banks of Abbott Lake at the base of Sharp Top Mountain. This is a favorite destination for a special dinner and is a scenic 45 minute drive from Lynchburg. You can take a stroll around the lake or peruse the gift shops before dinner in the Lake View Restaurant. Enjoy an after dinner drink at the Sharp Top Cocktail Lounge or in the bar. Stay overnight at the lodge and enjoy a hearty breakfast before hiking the 1.5 mile trail up Sharp Top, one of the three peaks that make up the Peaks of Otter. In non-winter months, you can take the Sharp Top bus to the top as well. The Peaks of Otter lodge is wonderful and it's so peaceful there.
Don't forget...they have a big seafood buffet on Fridays and Saturdays. I haven't sampled it but here it's great.

I really love the Peaks of Otter and go there often. It is one of my favorite places to take photos. Not far from there I took a picture that was published in National Geographic.
I have seen deer, bear and hawks that frequent this beautiful place. And there is nothing finer than going to the Lodge to have some fried green tomatoes a very special treat. I also really enjoy there apple pie and ice cream that is beyond comparison.
This is one of my shots of Abbot Lake that many have enjoyed: http://robertmillerphoto.com/albums/album/72157600039308659/photo/229917900/most-interesting-according-to-dopiaza-this-side-of-tranquility.html
