Central Virginia: We're Still Growing!

Despite the negative national economic news, a report this past week from the University of Virginia's Weldon Cooper Center for Public Service is promising for Central Virginia. It concerned the growth in our local community from 2007 to 2008. Though certainly not large increases, the population in Lynchburg, Bedford City and the surrounding counties of Amherst, Appomattox, Bedford and Campbell continue to rise thanks in part to low taxes and a stable local economy.

Good 'ole Lynchburg. It was a nice place to grow up

Ok -- I guess I can't be totally objective -- # 1 I left my heart in SF  # 2 Nashua is a great place to live -- if #1 and #2 apply -- then Virginia looks like a great place to live!

Kat, it's still a nice place to visit your parents! LOL!

Joan, they do apply! I loved growing up in New England, but Lynchburg is home now. Nice when we like where we live, isn't it?

Of course I'll come visit! It's not like I'm moving to Cali (though even if I did, I'd still come and visit).

What high tech companies have experienced a move or "growth" to Lynchburg? How is the Charlottesville market?

Posted by Bob Connell about 3 years ago

Hi Bob, we have the new Pearson Cancer Center that brought hundreds in, Areva is still hiring. I'm not sure about Charlottesville. I'm going to the Chamber of Commerce later this week, I'll get some stats and post the. Thanks for stopping by.
