There are five wineries on the Bedford County Wine Trail in Virginia. Recently we stopped in at the Savoy Lee Winery in Huddleston on the way to Smith Mountain Lake. This is a small family winery that opened in September of 2005 but they produce a wide variety of award winning wines.

Debbie- Chocolate Raspberry Bread and wine.....ummmm.....sounds scrumptious!
Barbara, when we visited we missed out on the homemade breads because David's wife was out with friends! The wine is very good too!
I had no idea you had wineries in Virginia. Enjoyed your post.
Hi Diane, yes it surprised me too but there are many wineries throughout the state. These are located in the county I live in. Many are located to the north toward DC. Thanks for stopping by!
Lynn, this winery has so many events, I'm looking forward to their Beach Bash later this month! Thanks for commenting.
The chocolate raspberry bread sounds good! Have you tried it yet?
Hi Julie, no, David's wife is the baker and she was out of town when we visited. I guess that means I'll have to go back!LOL!
Julie, let's get a group together, I'm sure there are a few of us gals who could use one about now!
Sounds great! It would be nice to get out and just have fun.
Hmmm, I was thinking of doing a Civil War tour, now I may need to add a Wine Trail Tour into the agenda!
Hi Lisa, yes you should! We have so many wineries in my area of Virginia and what a pleasant way to spend an afternoon- or an evening. Many of the smaller wineries have events like this one. Thanks for commenting!
Debbie, I would definitely like to plan a trip to the area next summer. Was planning on doing it this summer until my dog got really sick and we couldn't travel. Definitely next year though. Would like to plan maybe a ten day trip. Okay, time to leave the office after 14 hours - have a a good nite!
Hi Lisa, you would love the Central Virginia area. Bedford County is so beautiful. Let me know when you think you might be in the area, we could go on the trail together!
Debbie, it is amazing to me how many wineries are in VA. We go to Smith Mtn Lake but from the Roanoke side through Burnt Chimney when we visit. We are going to have to take some time to visit these wineries next time we're there. Love the wallpaper of Smith Mtn Lake!
Hi Sharon, Thanks, my husband took the photo! I was just at the lake, we had our dock area dredged and I was up to my thighs in water removing some of the muck that's accumulated. We love visiting the wineries in the area. Savoy-Lee is having a Wine and Wet Noses event on Saturday. I'm hoping to get up there this weekend.
