Forest LIONS Club Host:
“COMMUNITY KITE FLIGHT”
Please come out and support this wonderful organization:On Saturday, March 19 the Forest Lions Club will be hosting its “first ever” Community Kite Flight event. With hopes of ushering in Spring with a fun family event. The Lions are looking forward to warmer weather, bright clear skies and a good March breeze.
The event will provide an opportunity for both children and adults to participate. The general grouping for single line kites will be divided into age groupings of 8 and under and 9 and older. For older youth and adults, there will be kite fighting using multi-line maneuvering kites. In addition to the highest flying kite in each age group, these will be judged to determine the smallest, the largest, the best looking, the best homemade and the most futuristic. The Kite Fighting groups will be divided between those with little or no experience (Novices) and those with two or more years experience (Pros). Trophies and ribbons will be awarded.
While waiting to fly or after, you may buy refreshments on site courtesy of the Mountain View United Methodist Men. You can also create for your records a child ID CD thanks to the Bedford County’s Sheriff’s Child ID Program (no information is retained) or learn more about fire prevention and safety from the Forest Volunteer Fire Department.
